Funky Black Monk Strap
These black monk strap shoes have a quirky look to them with the woven panel to the toe and the back of the shoe. They are more edgy than the trad monk strap shoe. Worn with a dark suit they can easily be the star of the show. Try a grey or charcoal suit. There is a triple buckle strap which is more unusual so if you want to be different, these are for you. The monk strap sits between the oxford and the derby in terms of formality and is not as common as either. The origins are said to come from Monks who wanted a shoe which could be taken on and off easily going into monasteries. And so the buckle shoe was born.
When you put your monk strap shoes on, it might be wise to use a shoehorn as to maintain the lovely shape of them. Why not metal match your accessories with the buckle of the shoes. A nice touch indeed. You can wear these with jeans and a blazer as they work well but plain socks may be better given the business of the shoe. We would not recommend you wear these with a tuxedo or morning suit. Probably best to stick with an oxford for those occasions. However for a dashing look which shows tons of personality you can’t go wrong with these black monk strap shoes.
