Cool Black Brown Oxford
These black brown oxford shoes are a really refreshing take on the two tone shoe. There is a distinct dark brown panel to the heel and the rest of the shoe is black leather. The oxford is toted as the most formal of shoes for men so adding a quirk like this dark brown strip makes for a more relaxed feel. Of course, this can be worn with a suit and smartness will prevail but with closer inspection, personality and originality come through from this brown black oxford shoe.
Origins of the Oxford Shoe
Although not absolute, there is a theory that the oxonian, a half boot popularised at the eponymous university, is credited with the design. At the time high buttoned boots were worn and they were fiddly to get on and probably not the most comfortable of shoes. So the half boot had slits to the side which eventually became laces. Of course this moved to the centre of the shoe and the boots became lower, as did the heel and one can see this morphing into what we now know as the oxford.
